SFNL Dominates Media Award Shortlist

The Southern Football Netball League are the big winners as the shortlist of nominations for the AFL Victoria 2015 Community Media Awards were released today.

The SFNL scooped a total of eight nominations across various categories, the most of all six senior metropolitan football competitions, and well ahead of the next best Eastern Football League (five shortlisted nominations).

The League's eight shortlisted nominations are also the most they have received in a single year.

Remarkably, all four of the League's football scribes have been shortlisted in the Best Football Column - Football Record category while the SFNL radio team get the chance to go back-to-back, again shortlisted for Best Radio Match Day Coverage after winning this award in 2014.

SFNL CEO David Cannizzo said that the record number of shortlisted candidates was a credit to the work the League has put in to expand its media reach, as well as a great reward for the efforts of the League’s journalists, photographers and broadcasters.

“It’s a tremendous advertisement for the SFNL to receive the most nominations of all football competitions in the state,” Cannizzo said.

“We’ve invested a lot of effort in growing our media operations, especially through the appointment of Will Hunter as our dedicated Media Officer back in July, and this result has validated those efforts.

“It’s also fantastic for our media team to receive due recognition for all of their exemplary work throughout the year and hopefully we will see a few of the team take home the awards on the day.”

The winners of the AFL Victoria 2015 Community Media Awards will be announced on Friday 4 December.
