Yarras Announce 2019 Senior Coach

The South Yarra Football Netball club is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Stegehuis as Senior Coach for the 2019 SFNL season.

Steghuis, the club’s current co-captain and winner of the 2017 and 2018 Best & Fairest awards, replaced his father Darren in the role.

The younger Steghuis came to South Yarra in 2016 after a successful junior and senior career which included multiple Best & Fairests at Junior, Under 18 and Senior grades. He also previously captained Silvan's Under 18 team to a premiership and coached St Simons to an Under 16 premiership.

Steghuis was asked his thoughts on the 2019 season and what he would like the club to achieve.

“My number one aim is to keep our entire playing list together. As a club we aren’t known for the best facilities, but what we do have is a group of people who want to play for each other," he said.

"I remember when I first came down to South Yarra, someone told me we don’t have much, but you just fall in love with the place and here we are today. The mates you make at this club is what makes it so unique.

"My next goal is to get some key players back to the club. There are blokes that we have encouraged to go and play better footy and to really push themselves and if they are available, they are the type of players we want to bring back to help us take that next step”.

Anton Tidmash will continue on as the Yarras' Reserves Coach in 2019.
