Will Hunter Resigns

It is with a touch of sadness that we announce the resignation of SFNL Media Officer, Will Hunter.

Hunter joined the League in 2013 as a volunteer scribe, before being appointed as the League’s inaugural Media Officer in July 2015. He quickly established himself as a quality operator, winning two AFL Victoria Media Awards for Best Use of Online Media (Social Media) and Best Football Column (Football Record) in 2016.

Hunter was the first to introduce a Media Day for a community football and netball league which has since become a key date on the SFNL events calendar and replicated by other sporting leagues across the state. During his tenure as Media Officer, the League’s social media profile has grown significantly.

The much-loved media personality was well respected in the wider community for his dedication in producing content for the SFNL.

SFNL General Manager - Operations David Jennings was full of praise in commending Hunter for his invaluable contribution to the League.

"Will has passionately provided media coverage for all things sport and community relating to the Southern region for the past four years. As humble as Will is, his commitment and love of the League is without question and the wider industry recognition of his work is a testament to his talent," he said.

"I thank Will for his immense contribution to the development of a suite of SFNL media platforms and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours".

Hunter said he is grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the League

"The last three and a half years have been a truly gratifying experience and I am very fortunate to have been able to work with such a wonderful team at SFNL HQ and contribute in a small way to the growth of the League," he said.

"The SFNL has an awesome team of dedicated media volunteers that do a great deal of work for the League behind the scenes each and every week and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their brilliant contributions.

"Finally, thank you to all the great people at clubland for all of your support and I look forward to seeing the League continue to prosper in the years to come."

Hunter will finish with the SFNL on 14th December 2018 having started at the old Linton street building and finishing at the new.
