Vale Shaun Oliver

The Southern Football Netball League extends its sincere condolences to the Oliver family and the Keysborough FNC on the recent passing of former player Shaun Oliver.

Oliver, 32, tragically drowned while trying to save the lives of two young children caught in a rip at Wollongong City Beach on Sunday afternoon.

An avid supporter of the Burras, Oliver played both junior and senior football at the club and his been fondly remembered as a selfless player that was always the first person on the field to assist a teammate.

Both Keysborough and Murrumbeena will line up before the Division 2 Senior Preliminary Final this Saturday at Meade Reserve to observe a minutes' silence, while a close friend of Oliver's, Jason 'Nifty' Neville, will say a few words as part of the pre-game tributes. Players from both senior teams will also wear black arm bands throughout the match in memory of Oliver.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist his wife Carla and three young children during this difficult time – CLICK HERE FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR TO DONATE.

Vale Shaun.
