After the great success of last year’s inaugural SFNL Hall of Fame night, it is with great pleasure that we announce that the League will be again hosting the memorable event.
Last year more than 200 people flocked to the Sandy by the Bay to witness 22 outstanding men become immortalised as the first inductees into the SFNL Hall of Fame. The men were honoured for their tremendous contributions to the SFNL and its precursor competitions – the Federal Football League, the South East Suburban Football League and the Eastern Suburbs Churches Football Association – in capacities as players, coaches, administrators and volunteers.
The SFNL are now calling for nominations for prospective inductees. Nominations are able to be made to the Hall of Fame sub-committee by SFNL board members, SFNL administration, SFNL member clubs and members of the public.
The criteria details that nominees must have demonstrated attributes including longevity, quality of performance, integrity, sportsmanship, good character and promoted the values of the SFNL or the forerunners FFL, ESCFA and SESFL.
The SFNL can confirm up to six inductees may be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.
Inductees will be announced mid-year with a formal Hall of Fame event to follow shortly after.
