The Southern Football Netball League is delighted to announce Melodie Aitken as its new netball interleague coach for 2018.
Aitkin takes over from Mel Starr, who has left the league to pursue work opportunities outside of Melbourne.
An astute netball mind, Aitken is best known as co-host of the SFNL's radio netball program, Nothing But Net, and coached Oakleigh District to the 2017 Division 7 Netball premiership.
An excited Aitken said she was looking forward to the opportunity to work with the SFNL's best players.
"I am excited to be given the opportunity to work with the premier players in our League this year," Aitken said
"There is a growing rivalry within the interleague competition, and we all want to make the SFNL squad a side to be feared and respected. My role is to ensure everyone is at their best, and that we represent the SFNL with the strongest team possible."
Aitken will be assisted by her Nothing But Net co-host Hugh Maclean.
Meanwhile, Ben Lockwood has been reappointed to lead the Senior Football team in 2018 following back-to-back Interleague victories in 2016-17.
Interleague squads for Southern's football (Senior and Under 19) and netball (Senior) teams will be released shortly.
The SFNL is set to play the North Central Football League in Boort on Saturday 19 may as part of the 2018 Worksafe AFL Victoria Community Championship.
