DIVISION 1
Oakleigh District 5.3 (33) def by East Brighton 8.7 (55)
East Brighton has backed up their final round result with another win over Oakleigh District at Meade Reserve, this time by 22 points.
A three goal second quarter turned out to be key for the Vampires, as well as keeping Oakleigh scoreless in the final term.
Rebekah Halprin was the undisputed best on ground, kicking six goals for the victors, while Emma Carson and Jade Barnden both added a goal each.
For Oakleigh, Emily McIntyre was the only multiple goal kicker with two. Hannah Richards and Jessica Szalek also hit the scoresheet while playing strong games.
The win for East Brighton means that they avoid the dangerous Murrumbeena in the second week of finals, meaning that that is exactly who Oakleigh will face.
Mordialloc 1.3 (9) def by Endeavour Hills 10.8 (68)
Endeavour Hills have caused something of a surprise by defeating Mordialloc by 59 points in their semi final clash at Meade Reserve.
The Falcons kept Mordi goalless for the first three quarters, adding eight of their own in the same period.
Brianna Peart kicked three and Angela Grace Bracamante added two to be among the standouts for the winners.
For Mordialloc, Shana Jowett slotted their only goal, while Charlotte Davis and Alice Allet were among their best.
The loss sees Mordialloc’s season come to an end after a fourth placed finish. Endeavour Hills now face East Brighton in a huge preliminary final clash.
DIVISION 2
Doveton Eagles 2.2 (14) defeated by Murrumbeena 3.8 (26)
Murrumbeena have caused an upset this week, ending Doveton’s finals run early and progressing through to next week’s Semi Final against Lyndhurst.
A goal to Murrumbeena in the final quarter was enough to get them over the line, as they kept the opposition to just one behind.
Kristy Brockway, Lily Brown and Bridget Millar kicked Murrumbeena’s three goals to get them the win.
Clayton 8.6 (54) defeated South Yarra 4.3 (27)
Clayton have had a convincing win to end South Yarra’s season, as they look to face competition leaders Frankston next week.
They were on the front foot straight away, kicking three goals in the first quarter, and not letting South Yarra get a taste. A huge second half, was more than enough to really put them away.
Catrina Mastroianni, Stephanie Sandoval and Kelsey Tomkins kicked two goals each for Clayton.
