The SFNL’s best football and netball talent will again be out in pursuit of representative glory this Saturday as part of the 2018 Worksafe AFL Victoria Community Championships.
But it will be an Interleague campaign with a difference, with Southern facing a country road trip for the first time.
The SFNL will travel up to Boort this weekend to take on the North Central Football League in Senior Football, Under 19 Football and Senior Netball clashes as it aims to continue its rise up the AFL Victoria rankings.
The Senior footballers are looking to make it three wins on the trot under coach Ben Lockwood following victories over Ellinbank & District FL and Central Highlands FL in the last two seasons, while the Under 19s, led by first-time coach Jimmy Cullen, will be aiming to start the day in the best possible fashion with another comprehensive win in the curtain-raiser.
In addition, Mel Aitken's Senior netballers will do battle with the best from North Central as they search for their first Interleague trophy.
The final teams for the SFNL Senior and Under 19 football will be announced at a special interleague selection dinner later this evening.
