Last week was quite an historic day for the Oakleigh District Football Netball Club as for the first time in the clubs’ storied history, we saw a third generation from the same family play senior football in the famous black and white strip.
When young 17-year-old Nathan Peddle took to the field for his senior debut last week, watching on proudly were dad Brenton and granddad Graeme.
Graeme 'Bluey' Peddle played more than 150 games for the club, as did his son Brenton. Both are former Presidents of the club as well, so the Peddle name is already firmly etched in the club’s history.
Now the Districts hope to continue a great family dynasty through Nathan, who prior to his senior debut last Saturday, was an integral member of the clubs’ Under 19 2017 premiership side alongside brother Regan. While Regan is likely to spend much of the season in the 19s, there is every chance we may see him join Nathan in the senior team at some stage in 2018 to continue the Peddle legacy.
Congratulations to the Peddle family on their remarkable achievements and we look forward to seeing Nathan and Regan write the next chapter in the family’s history at the Districts.
