The SFL is saddened to hear of the passing of Derek King.

Derek was a highly decorated footballer in the old VFA for Oakleigh and Caulfield, where he won a JJ Liston trophy whilst playing for Oakleigh (B&F VFA Division 1) and also the Field Medal whilst playing for Caulfield (B&F VFA Division 2).

Derek played at St.Kilda City (SESFL) in 1981 and coached at Oakleigh District (Federal FL), Noble Park (Federal FL), Ashburton (SESFL), Caulfield/Ashburton (SESFL) and St. Kilda City (SESFL/SFL) where he coach 2 premierships, taking the club from Third division to First division.  Derek also coached South Yarra in 1999, 2000 and 2001 (SFL).

The below article further illustrates Derek's amazing football journey.

Our thoughts are with the King family at this time.
