It is with deep regret the Cheltenham Football Club announces the passing of Ashley (Tommy) Goodes.
Tommy was known by this name because of his diminutive stature (Tom Thumb) and he served the Cheltenham FC as a player from the early 1950's till well into the 1960's. He was a member of our 1958 Reserves premiership side, which included 2 stalwarts of the club in Jack Barker and Kevin Roberts. Tom continued to support the club in the 1970's and after serving as a committeeman for a number of years before he took on the roles as follows:
President 1981, 82, 89, 90, 2000and 2002. Treasurer 1981 and 82. Secretary 1999.
He also served on the board of the SFL for a number of years.
Tommy was well known by many members of the Federal, South East Suburban and Southern Football Leagues and will be forever missed.
