The SFL is excited to officially release the 2014 Thirds and Under 19s fixtures!
Key aims of the Under 19s fixture:
1. A balanced fixture
As a result:
Every team plays every other team twice – once at home, and once away.
9 rounds separate every match against the same opposition (i.e. ‘Team A’ plays ‘Team B’ in Rounds 1 and 10, or Rounds 2 and 11, or Rounds 3 and 12 etc)
2. A fixture focused on keeping volunteers together on match-days (via triple-headers/quadruple-headers)
As a result:
The Under 19s team will play the curtain-raiser to the reserves/seniors a minimum 7 times (out of a possible 9 home games), or on average, 92.2% of the time.
There are also 32 out of a possible 36 ‘true’ triple-headers (playing the same opposition in the Under 19s as in the reserves/seniors on the same day).
Key aim of the Thirds fixture:
1. A fixture focused on keeping volunteers together on match-days (via triple-headers/quadruple-headers)
As a result:
The Thirds team will play before the reserves/seniors of your club a minimum 7 times (out of a possible 9 home games), or on average, 91.45% of the time.
There are also 51 out of a possible 52 ‘true’ triple-headers (playing the same opposition in the Thirds as the reserves/seniors on the same day).
Whilst the key objective is to keep the Thirds with the seniors/reserves and as a result not every team will play every other team, no two sides play each other more than twice. In addition, no team plays any less than 8 home games.
