This weekend SFNL Clubs will take to the field to promote the 2025 TAC Club Rewards road safety round and fund raise money for their club.
This year’s theme is “BE THE DIFFERENCE” –
Show Up for Your Team, Slow Down on the Road
All SFNL Umpires, Football and Netball players will be wearing Band Together blue ‘Arm Bands’ to raise awareness that it’s everyone’s responsibility to slow down on the roads.
Whilst not only leading their local communities in road safety, SFNL Clubs can also earn up to $10,000 each from the TAC.
SFNL clubs continue to be among the highest earning clubs in Victoria through their TAC Rewards campaigns spanning on-field, off-field, and digital media efforts that connect with the broader footy and netball community.
Mark Hamilton-Smith, President of the Southern Football and Netball League Umpires Association (SFNLUA), shared his strong support for this important initiative:
‘The Southern Football and Netball League Umpire Association (SFNLUA) is proudly participating in this year’s TAC Club Rewards Program. SFNLUA fully supports TAC’s mission to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on our roads—through focusing on and tackling speeding driving. We are aligned with TAC's leadership and the effectiveness of their evidence-based approach to reducing speeding, which is making a measurable difference in our communities towards reducing injury crashes—contributing to Victoria's goal of halving road deaths by 2030. We are particularly impressed by innovative programs like the TAC Club Rewards Program, which harness the power of grassroots football and netball clubs to spread the road safety message throughout communities. The campaign’s tagline, “Show up for your team, slow down on the road”, cleverly connects community sport with road safety responsibility. We understand road safety is everyone's responsibility, and with our nearly 400 strong membership base—spread across a range of age, gender and occupation cohorts—we are well placed to disseminate TAC’s important message.’

Wear the armband. Show up for your team. And most importantly, slow down on the road.
