Spud’s Game – A Match for Mental Health.

This weekend the Southern FNL are holding their 2023 Mental Health round, “Spud’s Game Community round supported by the Danny Frawley Centre and Game Changer”

St. Kilda FC will hold Spud’s Game this Friday Night v Brisbane Lions with the Community round on Saturday 24 June.

In conjunction with the Danny Frawley Centre & Southern FNL partner, Game Changer, we shine a light on speaking up to your mates if you have any battles.

This weekend various Southern FNL football and netball clubs and SFNLUA umpires will be wearing Game Changer beanies during the warm up and again when running onto the field.

For clubs taking part, pre match the players and umpires involved will form a circle in the middle of the ground with Captains from both clubs addressing players and umpires about the importance of looking after themselves and each other regarding mental health. To speak up.

Game Changer have visited 15 clubs in response to incidents so far in 2023 alone. The critical support that is offered to our clubs is a very importance service and we encourage all clubs to be part of the program as you never know when you will need the support.

“Show up for the 2 in 5 of us who experience mental ill health.”
