SFNL Women's 2025 Grand Final Preview

After sixteen rounds of grueling football where we’ve separated the contenders from the rest of the respective pack. We saw two weeks of more hard & combative football played in a thrilling finals series to get where we are now that second last Sunday in August to decide our premiers in the 2025 SFNL Bendigo Bank Women’s Grand Final’s.

The final four teams will become just those two and will have the term ‘Premiers’ next to their name on Sunday afternoon as the battle of premiership glory will commence.

The division two grand final is a re-match of our second semi final between the minor premier Berwick Springs and a side that’s been right on their tail all season in the Bombers of Skye.

The Titans barely put a foot wrong throughout the 2025 home & away season winning 13 of their 14 games and also come in following a week off after defeating Skye in that semi final.

While for the Bombers their home and away record of 11-3 isn’t anything to laugh at either as they will look to perform an upset in the morning.

They usually say match practice is the best thing coming into any grand final and while the Titans had the week off as previously mentioned the Bombers had to first defeat the Dees of Chelsea Heights which they did in impressive fashion to the tune of 40 points.

So they will be coming into this game in fine form. While the Titans road to today was a lot easier after their 57 point win over Skye two weeks ago.

The Titans lead the season series 3 games to 0 at this stage but in a grand final it’ll be anyone’s game and as we’ve seen before in grand finals funny things can happen.

The Bombers have great representation on the field with the likes of Holly Stephens, Molly Schreenan & Tequila Byrnes-Davies who have been simply terrific in season 2025 and that was well reflected in the voting during the best & fairest count. While the late season form of Mel Broekhoff with 17 goals in 7 games has been of vital importance.

While other key forward in Emily Lesjak has kicked 15 majors in 2025 they will need to be on song when the chances are there.

Kaci Hillis & Katie Mitchell’s leadership will be vital for the chances of the Titans, while Skye’s defence will have their work cut out for them as Clare Alison, Emily Browning & Zoe Allen have kicked 73 goals between them in 2025 is a danger sign for the Bombers

and simply cannot afford to let them off the chain.

While in the division one grand final we are treated once again to a rivalry that just gets better as the seasons go on. It’ll again be the Falcons of Endeavour Hills taking on the Casey Thunder in a re-match of last season's grand final.

Since 2022 the Thunder have made every division one grand final with mixed results.

While for the Falcons they have also been there multiple times including today just missing out in 2023.

Last year we saw an absolute thriller played out with the Falcons walking away eventual premiers but revenge will be red hot on the minds of the Thunder.

Throughout 2025 the Falcons have not put a foot wrong winning every game right up to today including that all important week off after defeating Murrumbeena in the semi final.

While for the Thunder you could say they’ve done it the hard way to date. Finishing third with a record of 12 wins and 4 losses. A tricky elimination final meeting with Frankston which they handled with flying colours to then a meeting last week with the Lions which

was also handled with class. Thanks to best on ground efforts to Grace Wake & Alicia Heins including two important goals to Rachael Hunt. They are now back to the biggest dance of all.

While the season's meetings are to the better of the Falcons at 2-0 it’s a grand final and meetings between these two in grand finals are normally very close.

There are stars in this game bigger than a Hollywood blockbuster. You simply cannot ignore Alyssa Weston’s 54 goal season where she has had games won purely off her own boot, while the form of her sister Nicola is something never to be discounted after another blinder of a season it was well reflected with 30 votes earlier in the week during the best & fairest count. They will be both very hungry to add another premiership medal to their cabinet. Lainie Krepp, Alysha White & Harmony Thomas are three dangerous forwards who will take full advantage of any mistakes that will come their way and look to make the Thunder pay.

While on the other end Lana Fullwood is a name that is never too far away from the goal kicking action. With another 40 to her name in season 2025 she will look to add to that as early as possible to put the Falcons under pressure. While ruck Sarah Ventura will look to use her elite jumping ability to full potential to allow the likes of Eden Tone & skipper Alicia Heins to have first use of the football.

Both grand finals promise to bring high levels of excitement & high octane pressure and the teams who handle that the best will come home with the chocolates.

Both grand finals are available for live stream on Local Footy Hub with replays available not long after!
