Game Changer Round Shines a Light on Mental Health Across SFNL
This weekend, we are partnering with Game Changer to host a Mental Health Round - a powerful reminder that looking after your mental health is just as important as your physical wellbeing.
Across every oval and netball court this weekend, clubs are being encouraged to take a moment to check in with themselves, their teammates, and their broader club community.
Mental Health Round is more than just a themed fixture. It’s a movement driven by Game Changer to open up conversations, break down stigma, and build stronger, more supportive environments within local sport.
Why it matters
For many players and volunteers, the club is like a second home, a place of connection, pride, and shared purpose. But even in the most tight-knit teams, people can be quietly struggling. Whether it's stress, anxiety, loneliness, or something deeper, mental health challenges don’t always show up on the scoreboard.
By raising awareness, Game Changer aims to empower clubs to become safe, inclusive spaces where everyone feels supported both on and off the field.
What can clubs do?
Take a moment this round to start a conversation about mental health
Encourage players and volunteers to check in with each other
Lead by example, it’s okay to ask for help
As a league, SFNL has shown a strong commitment to player and community wellbeing. Game Changer Round is a key part of that, reminding everyone involved in footy and netball that mental health matters.
Let’s make this round more than just a fixture. Let’s make it a reminder that no one in our sporting community should go it alone.
