The SFL is proud to announce the release of the 2014 Southern Football League senior fixtures (see links below).
In what has become a growing trend, clubs have once again endeavoured to think ‘outside the square’ in terms of their fixture requests, and this has resulted in several exciting initiatives for the 2014 season.
Key features of the 2014 fixtures include:
Division 3 to commence one week earlier than Divisions 2 and 1, thus allowing for three stand-alone senior Grand Final days.
For the first time in the Southern Football League, a match to be held on Good Friday between Heatherton FC and Chelsea Heights FC.
A Round 1 replay of the 2013 Division 1 Senior Grand Final between East Brighton FC and St Pauls FC on Sunday April 13, playing for the Annual Foundation 49 Cup.
For the second year in a row, a match on ANZAC Day between East Malvern FC and Clayton FC.
Hallam FC to host at least six night matches (of which at least five to be played on a Friday night), with the club’s ground boasting terrific lighting for night football.
As always, the Southern Football League fixtures also feature countless local rivalry matches and some tantalizing early-season match-ups.
Southern Football League players will enjoy a Bye round over the Queen’s Birthday weekend (June 7/8), as well as over the Easter weekend (April 18-21) (for players not involved in the Good Friday match).
The SFL reminds all clubs, players and supporters that the PDF fixtures are subject to minor changes, and the SFL website remains the primary location for up-to-date fixtures. Full senior fixtures (with venue and time details) can now be viewed via the SFL website under the Fixtures/Results tab.
