The 13th round of the SFNL’s netball competition had some really close and exciting contests as teams in the middle section of the ladders battle it out for finals positions in a flashy end of season style.
A1 Division
Mordialloc (1) 35 defeated Cranbourne (1) 31
Prior to this game both of these teams were on 5 wins and 4 losses. Cranbourne sitting 4th and Mordialloc 5th.
But with this win, things have been shaken up. Mordialloc moved up to 4th pushing Cranbourne down to 5th. With Cranbourne pumped up by their unexpected win over Dingley last week they would have been disappointed by this result.
Both teams needed this victory as next week for round 12 Mordialloc have the bye and then Cranbourne in round 13, just the week after. This gives both teams only two more games of the season for the chance to score the points and be in the top four come finals. Things get a bit more exciting with those two games left, both teams are playing one team below and one team above them on the ladder.
Mordialloc will need to keep their socks up and Cranbourne will need to fire up for the remainder of the season. Keep watch on the ladder for any changes!
Murrumbeena (1) 33 defeated Port Melbourne Colts (1) 27
Murrumbeena have dished up the upset of the season. 7th vs an undefeated 1st on the ladder and they have had the win! A great game by the Murrumbeena girls and worth celebrating. A humbling loss for Port Melbourne in a non dangerous game. This will not affect their finals chances by any means but will provide a chance to focus on regrouping the team with their eyes on the premiership prize.

A3 Division
East Brighton Vampires (1) 39 defeated Dingley (2) 36
A close game against two top four ladder teams. Dingley was only sitting one win behind East Brighton before this match. This win leaves East Brighton remaining in second position while Dingley fell to 4th after Keysborough defeated Aspendale pushing Keysborough up into 3rd. Dingley will need to have a strong finish to their season to stay up there for finals as South Yarra is hot on their heels in 5th position on the ladder with another win this week.
In a tight exciting contest Dingley have made it across the line with a win by one point over South Yarra. After this round Dingley sit 6th on the ladder being only one win behind Carrum Patterson Lakes 4th and South Yarra 5th. This makes for a very exciting end of the season for these three teams with only three games of the season remaining with only the 4th spot on the A4 ladder and last finals position in contention. Let’s see how they battle it out!
