Redbacks Ready to Bite in SFNL Debut

By Andrew Paloczi

Excitement is building at Hampton Park Football Netball Club as its first serious taste of SFNL footy approaches.

A Good Friday game with Springvale Districts promises a tantalising contest with another club new to Division 3.

It will be a stand-alone feature match.

Big things are expected of the Redbacks after a lean period in the SEFNL.

Jason Chapple is at the helm for Hampton Park and is a familiar face there. He previously coached the Redbacks from 2005 to 2007, taking them to finals in all three seasons, and expresses enthusiasm about beginning a new era at the club.

“It’s terrific. It’s definitely a positive vibe. It’s good to see some old faces. Hopefully we can put some smiles on a few of them,” Chapple says.

Chapple believes the move to the SFNL will enable the Redbacks to be competitive again and is embracing the challenge.

“To see one of your old clubs struggling, I was only too willing to go back and help set the joint right,” he explains.

Hampton Park is fancied by many for the 2018 flag, as is Good Friday opponent Springvale Districts.
