Preliminary Finals: Netball Review

By Chelsea Ryan

A great day for preliminary finals out at Rowan Reserve saw many teams battle it out on the courts for their first or last chance to snag a spot in the grand final.  There was incredible support from the sidelines with lots of competitive games across divisions with Dingley securing multiple grand final positions in A grade.

A1 Division

Preliminary Final

Cheltenham (1) 37 defeated Caulfield Bears (1) 30

Caulfield gave Cheltenham a red hot go bringing intensity at the start of the match but were outclassed by great defensive plays and accurate shooting.  Cheltenham kept composure in this high-pressure game and were stoked with the win.  Even with the loss Caulfield should be really proud of their efforts this season.

A2 Division

Preliminary Final

Dingley (2) 35 defeated St Pauls McKinnon (1) 31

In a game that went back and forth on the court it was Dingley that pulled off the close win by only 4 points.  St Pauls McKinnon put up a great fight using their energy that took out St Kilda City the week before.  But it wasn’t enough to get them across the line in the end with Dingley stepping up, hungry for their chance to take on Port Melbourne Colts in the grand final.

A3 Division

Preliminary Final

Dingley (3) 48 defeated East Brighton Vampires (1) 33

Dingley ate their weetbix Saturday morning putting on an impressive display across all four quarters to overcome East Brighton Vampires.  Amazing work down their attacking end with clear feeding into the circle and reliable shooting.

East Brighton will be disappointed with the outcome having finished second on the ladder.  But that’s the way finals roll.  They should still be please with a great effort across the season to get them this far.

A4 Division

Preliminary Final

South Yarra (2) 37 defeated Parkdale Vultures (1) 29

South Yarra really stepped up against Parkdale Vultures, keeping composure to the very end to win by 8 goals.  Parkdale was in it with a chance but let it slip and couldn’t get it back.
