Netball Growth - Celebrating 10 years as the SFNL

Netball continues to grow within the community as the league celebrates its 10th season since the Southern Football League changed to the Southern Football Netball League (SFNL).

Netball continues to increase participation rates throughout the community, with four leagues across competitions and an increase from 2023 of an additional 18 teams to a total of 120 in 2024.

Last Saturday matches commenced throughout the competition, seeing a lot of eager, determined, and driven athletes shown how much Netball means to them.

In a massive competition growing of more than 100 teams, the competition is always in need of extra help to ensure matches go ahead, and everyone has fun.

The great crew of umpires at the SFNL are keen for the season ahead and are still looking out for any additional help in which they can receive for matches. Our umpires have a lot of fun in the work they do making lifelong friends throughout their journey, being further involved within netball, and massively helping in the community with some cash earned to show their hard work.

A lot of our umpires are also current netball players and are able to take their game to the next level by these transferable skills, and to apply these skills to enhance their teams performance.

With the season already commencing and more teams entering the competition, the need for volunteers and umpires needs to happen to ensure everyone has the same experience in Netball. Although our team love helping, they cannot do it alone and would love to meet new people keen to make a difference and learn about the fun within helping in the community.
