A Highett Football Club reunion will celebrate three flags in four years
THEY called him “Goose’’ and he laid Highett Football Club’s golden eggs.
When Darrel MacKenzie arrived at the club as coach in 1971, it had never won a first-grade premiership. Its sole triumph had been in Division 2 in 1939.
By the time Mackenzie left, returning to VFA club Sandringham, Highett had clinched three flags in four seasons in the old Federal League.....
