Hampton Hammer gets recruited

Hampton Hammer Will Fordham has been recruited by North Melbourne FC in today's AFL Rookie Draft.

Having played 24 matches with the Hammers over the past three seasons, Fordham played the majority of this season in the TAC Cup.

Boasting good size for a midfielder at 188cm, Fordham played 20 matches for the Sandringham Dragons in this year's TAC competition. Averaging a healthy 20 disposals, the 18-year-old also added six marks, three inside 50s and three tackles per game. Blessed with pace and good evasive skills, he is an excellent kick and has shown talent at either end of the ground.

Kangaroos Recruiting Manager Bryce Lewis described Fordham as "very strong aerobically and likes to run and carry, breaking the lines. He’s a late developer – if he hadn’t have been picked, he most likely would have played back at the Dragons next year as a 19 year old."

"Given we’d brought in a few talls through the National Draft, the opportunity to get some run and carry in was appealing for us."
