Position Overview
The Game Development Officer is primarily responsible for conducting general Australian Football game development programs with both school and community environments. The role also supports the delivery of AFL Active and NAB AFL Auskick programs, as well as assists in delivering the AFL Victoria’s Sporting School Program strategy.

Job Profile
Football Program Delivery
- Deliver and manage a variety of AFL programs in either school or after-school time. Programs could be school holidays, multicultural, Auskick, all-abilities or others
- Ensure each program is delivered in line with the program curriculum and all participants are able to participate in a safe, friendly and fun environment
Other duties as required
- Present at Level 0 Coaching Courses
- Assist in coaching at local Auskick Centres
- Delivery of Multicultural Schools Programs
- Distribute promotional flyers and posters to promote and market a variety of AFL programs
- Work closely with fellow Game Development Officers, and the Participation and Diversity teams to ensure a high level of quality control relating to the delivery of programs
- Delivery of Schools competitions, including coaching, umpiring and managing
- Deliver presentations and/or demonstrations in environments such as school assemblies, festivals, training sessions, community events or similar

- Confidence and ability to deliver engaging and positive outcomes with a range of AFL programs
Skills/Experience
Mandatory
- Qualifications or currently studying in Sports Coaching/Management, Recreation, Education or an equivalent depth of relevant experience, such as coaching, playing or umpiring, or;
- Qualifications or currently studying in Disability, Special Education, Occupational Therapy or relevant experience working with people of all abilities
- Minimum Level One AFL Coaching Accreditation or ability to obtain
- Current Victorian Driver Licence with access to a motor vehicle
- Satisfactory “Working with Children” check
- Senior Level 2 First Aid certificate
- Due to the nature of the sporting industry, a willingness to work outside normal business hours such as evenings and weekends
Desirable
- Experience working with volunteers
- Sound knowledge of AFL or other relevant sporting environment
- Good understanding of the football network in the region
- Experience in working with diverse communities such as all-abilities or culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
