Just when it looked as though SFL grand final day may have a new look about it, it could well be a case of “as you were” after East Brighton defied the pundits to win its way through to its fourth successive grand final with a fighting 21-point victory over flag favourite Dingley in Saturday’s second semi-final at Springvale.


The Dingoes have looked the goods all year, but despite their 41-point and 54-point victories over the Vampires during the season, they soon discovered that finals football is another matter.


“It’s more a mental thing at this time of the year,” said Dingley coach Shane Morwood after the game.


“East Brighton came out to play and we weren’t switched on at all.
