Fev-alenko, you beauty!

Former AFL star Brendan Fevola will make a one-off appearance for the Sandown Cobras Football Netball Club (Division 3 SFL) on Saturday May 2nd 2015, to coincide with the opening of the club's new home ground facilities at Edinburgh Reserve, Springvale North.

34 year old Fevola played 204 AFL Games (187 games for Carlton and 17 games for Brisbane) between 1999-2010, kicking 623 goals. He was Carlton's leading goal-kicker seven times, is a two-time Coleman Medalist and a three-time All-Australian.

Since his AFL playing days, Fevola spent the 2011 season playing VFL football at the Casey Scorpions kicking 63 goals, along with some appearances for Narre Warren in the Mornington Peninsula Football League. Following that he played in the Northern Territory Football League for the 2011/2012 season with Wanderers kicking 49 goals in 6 games.

For the past three years (2012-2014), Fevola has played at Yarrawonga Football Club in the Ovens and Murray Football League kicking 298 goals. He has also played one-off games for numerous local clubs around the country including New Norfolk in Tasmania, where he kicked 18 goals in 2012.

Fevola is continuing at Yarrawonga in 2015 where he has been named Co-Coach.

'We had been talking abut the concept of bringing in an ex-AFL footballer for a one-off game for a period of time, which has been successfully done at other clubs from a financial point of view.

The opportunity presented itself with our coach Rick having a connection with Yarrawonga, who happen to have a bye on the 2nd of May, so it has fitted in with our first home game of the season, where we will launch our new facilities. Brendan is still a big drawcard in footy circles and we look forward to seeing a big crowd get down to Edinburgh Reserve on May 2.

Brendan has a strong affinity with the South East of Melbourne having grown up in Narre Waren, played with Narre Warren and Beaconsfield Junior Football Clubs in the Dandenong & District Junior Football League and progressed through to the Dandenong Stingrays in the Under 18 TAC Cup where he was drafted to Carlton.

Our opponent for the day will be our closest neighbour Lyndale and we look forward to a great contest.'
