Dingley Defeats Mordialloc in Div 1 Decider

WHEN Dingley captain Tony Lavars kicked a rare goal at the 18-minute mark of the last quarter of Sunday’s Southern league grand final against Mordialloc at Springvale, it brought the house down — literally!

The nuggety back-pocket specialist doesn’t kick many goals but his gem from a tough angle put the icing on the cake of the Dingoes’ first Division One premiership and the fans loved it.

They loved it so much that as they all leaned forward to give the popular Lavars a high-five, the fence collapsed under their combined weight.

Fortunately no one was hurt and the Dingoes continued their march to premiership glory by 52 points, 13-7-85 to 4-9-33.

Just like the fence, a brave Mordialloc was squashed by a relentless, fiercely-tackling Dingley that finished 2015 as the undisputed leader of the SFL, winning the senior, reserves and thirds premierships.
