Southern Football Netball League Treasurer David Coutts has been elected as the League’s new Board Chairman in a members' vote at last night’s Annual General Meeting at the Clayton Football Club.
Coutts will replace outgoing Chairman Mark Seymour who is stepping down after six years in the role. Seymour will remain on the Board as an ordinary Member.
Coutts said he was thrilled with his appointment and looked forward to continuing the good work of his longstanding predecessor.
"It is an absolute privilege to be voted in as the Chairman of the Southern Football Netball League and to be able to continue the work undertaken during Mark Seymour’s reign," Coutts said.
"The response from the clubs has been terrific and there is a genuine air of excitement around the League.
"With the continued growth of the League and several initiatives already in place for the 2016 season, the Board and I are looking forward to getting back into it in the New Year."
A qualified Chartered Accountant, Coutts has served as the League’s Treasurer for six years and brings a strong financial background to the Board.
He has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants since 2002 and works as a senior manager at Ashfords Accountants & Advisory.
Coutts is a popular figure in the SFNL community and was also a weekly panellist on the League’s award-winning radio program, the Sunday Football Netball Show, in 2015.
Board Member Dean Morrison will step up to replace Coutts as Treasurer of the League.
In other Board appointments, Garry Cranny has been reappointed as Vice Chairman, while Marc Gauci, Jonathan Adams, Athena Greenall-Wilson and Penny Lording will all continue on as Board Members.
Paul Jemmeson also joins the SFNL as a new Board Member.
The SFNL would also like to sincerely thank Mark Seymour for the wonderful contribution he has made to the League during his six-year tenure as Board Chairman.
