The SFNL will turn pink this weekend as we celebrate Pink Sports Day!
Sporting clubs, leagues and associations across the nation will once again ‘pink up’ for BCNA’s annual Pink Sports Day over the Mother’s Day weekend.
We invite all clubs to join in the fun by turning pink over the weekend as a show of support for people in your community affected by breast cancer. At the same time, you will be helping to raise awareness and vital funds for BCNA to help us continue our important work.
It’s an easy and fun way to unite your sporting club for a special cause and it’s guaranteed to be exciting and very rewarding!
It’s free for clubs to participate and BCNA will provide you with a great ‘Pink Sports Day Event Pack’ with fundraising ideas, posters, Pink Lady tattoos, Pink Lady cut-outs, balloons, media release templates, donation tins and lots more!
If you’re playing AWAY, you are welcome to hold your event on a HOME game that suits you!
Money raised through Pink Sports Day goes directly to BCNA to support our work in ensuring Australians affected by breast cancer are provided with the very best information, services and support.

Division 1 – Round 5 Preview

Based on early results season 2015 is shaping to be one of the most even in recent years and Round 5 looms as another cracking weekend of Division One footy.
Mordialloc V St Pauls – Ben Kavanagh Reserve
St Pauls could be the big sliders this year as they sit in unfamiliar territory near the foot of the ladder. However, they still have loads of talent in their line up so write them off at your own peril. Mordialloc, on the other hand, are flying despite their first loss last week. This should be a ripping game, but I’m tipping the Doggies to arrest their form slump with a stirring away victory.
East Brighton V Clayton – Hurlingham Reserve
Despite the loss of key defensive personnel the Vampires backline has still proven difficult to penetrate. This defence will again be tested this week by a rejuvenated Clayton side that is averaging 87 points a game this season (five goals per game more than 2014). Will be a great contest but East Brighton’s class through the midfield will see them home.
Cheltenham V Bentleigh – Jack Barker Oval
Bentleigh are back in town after consecutive wins levelled their win/loss ratio. They’ve shown plenty of heart and their confidence will be sky-high as they have proven that on their day they can match it with anyone. Conversely, morale will be well down in the Cheltenham camp after their massive defeat and it would take a stunning turnaround to get up and win this. On form you’d have to pick Bentleigh here.
St Kilda City V East Malvern – Peanut Farm
Last week’s victory could perhaps be the confidence booster the Saints so desperately needed after three close losses to start the year. They should be competitive again this week, but I suspect the ladder-leading Panthers will be too good.
Chelsea Heights V Dingley – Beazley Reserve
It’s safe to say that the Heighters will be in a fight to avoid relegation this season if their horror 0-4 start is anything to go by. Their challenge only gets harder this week as they host a Dingley outfit that’s back to its destructive best. Dingoes by plenty.
Division 2 – Round 5 Preview

The top two sides face off in round five as Keysborough go up against last year’s runners-up
Keysborough vs Skye (Keysborough Reserve)
The SFNL’s newest side started the season with a bang but have come down to Earth a bit recently as they adjust to the new league. They come up against their toughest opponent yet in runners-up Skye, who have won three straight. The Bombers will be tough to beat and they have the ability to stop the Borough’s key forward Tyson King. But the Borough have been impressive so far and deserve to be favourites.
Keysborough by 6 points
Murrumbeena vs Springvale Districts (Murrumbeena Park)
The Beena were impressive for three quarters against Skye while Springvale played possibly their best game for the season in their win over Doveton. Murrumbeena are playing better than their 1-3 record suggests and a win over Springvale is achievable. But to do that they will have to stop Springvale forward James Gough who appears to have found his feet in division two.
Murrumbeena by 15 points
Hampton vs Caulfield (Peterson Street Reserve)
The Hammers will be looking to bounce back after being embarrassed at home by Oakleigh Districts last week. Caulfield put in a good effort against Keysborough but just fell short. Both of these sides have the talent to make another run at the finals and this game may be a precursor to a finals matchup. I like the young talent Caulfield have brought in and I think they will win this game, but not by much.

Doveton vs Highett (Power Reserve)
Both these sides find themselves in the same position as they were last season. Doveton have been competitive without winning a game while the Dogs have relied on final quarter comebacks to get them over the line. They will have to put in a four quarter effort if they are going to beat a Doveton side that is hungry for its first win of the season. Eagles have looked good in patches and will win if they can put a consistent effort together.

Heatherton vs Oakleigh District (Ross Street Reserve)
Heatherton have shown improvement since the start of the season while Oakleigh showed just how powerful a side they can be with their dominating performance against Hampton. The Tonners will be up against it this week and will need to show significantly more improvement if they are going to get up against a strong Oakleigh side. David Velardo is in excellent form and could be in for another big game.
Oakleigh by 30 points
Division 3 – Round 5 Preview

It is hard to believe we are already up to round 5. It should be a fierce contest at Mayfield Park when Black Rock visits to challenge Mount Waverley. The Jets are in such impressive form that this should be another successful sortie, but most likely by a smaller winning margin than they have been averaging this season.
Carrum Patterson Lakes is another travelling team that should prevail when it visits Fritsch Holzer Park to play South Yarra. CPL has a bit much class for its fellow Lions and is likely to win by a big margin.
Lyndale will be disappointed after a narrow loss, having had the misfortune of contending with Brendan Fevola. The Pumas should win this week, but Hallam is at home and, although inexperienced, you can’t fault the Hawks’ endeavour.
Keeley Park will be the scene of an epic struggle as the Southern Dragons and Dandenong battle it out. Neither of these sides has won a match this season, but a narrow Redlegs’ win is the tip in this one.
Sandown is at home and will get to show off its new facilities again, but without Fevola the scoreboard will tell a less-happy tale this week, as Moorabbin ensures that it remains undefeated.
Endeavour Hills started the season with a couple of wins, but the Falcons have crashed back to earth losing two games in a row against premiership contenders. This week, playing at Barry Simon Reserve should give them the edge against Ashwood.
