SFNL Netball Pride Round: Dingley and Black Rock Battle for the Pride Cup
This Saturday, the Southern Football Netball League proudly hosts its annual Netball Pride Round, a powerful initiative that celebrates diversity, promotes inclusion, and reinforces the message that community sport is a place where everyone belongs.
At the heart of this round is the Pride Cup showdown between Dingley FNC and Black Rock FNC’s B2 netball teams, taking place at 1:30pm at Rowan Road Reserve.
Now in its fifth year across various divisions, this rivalry between Dingley and Black Rock has become a special feature of Pride Round, a competitive fixture built on mutual respect and shared values.
“Dingley and Black Rock have been playing in the Pride game for the last five years across different divisions, and particularly our B2 division has a lovely rivalry… it's always a fierce competition and always ends with a smile on their faces,” said Alex from Dingley.
“We are particularly honoured to play in this round. It’s a really important opportunity to show visibility on a great cause. Over the past few years, we’ve been growing our culture and community, especially in the LGBTQ+ space, and we’re proud to shine a light on that - especially within the league.”
Why It Matters
Pride Round is more than a fixture, it’s a statement. It’s about visibility, acceptance, and the power of sport to bring people together. It sends a clear message: no matter your background, identity or orientation, you are welcome in this league.
“From my perspective, there’s no better way to find support and community than through local sport,” Alex added.
“Everyone is so welcoming. We are here to support everybody, no matter your background, because once you step on the court, you’re one team with one goal.”
Black Rock FNC shares this passion for inclusion.
