2018 SFNL Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Southern Football Netball League is delighted to announce that four tremendous contributors to southern football will have their names added into the SFNL Hall of Fame in 2018.

Champion Federal league goalkicker Ray Carr, Murrumbeena legend Ross Gould, long-time Heatherton committee member Trevor Easey and Clayton and ESCFA Umpires Association life-time achiever Alan Flint will join the illustrious list of 31 current inductees into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their decades of tireless service to the SFNL and its clubs.

In addition, David Smith will be honoured for his decades of service to the SFNLUA with Life Membership of the League.

The SFNL Hall of Fame sub-committee again received many terrific nominations that were carefully considered, with the outstanding quality of the nominations again making for an extremely difficult task for the SFNL.

The sub-committee assessed the nominees over many areas including longevity, quality of performance, integrity, sportsmanship, good character and promoting the values of the SFNL or its forerunners, before submitting a recommendation to the SFNL Board. The Board last week reviewed the recommendation and approved the four inductees into the Hall of Fame.

SFNL CEO Mike Palmer said that the four inductees are a wonderful representation of all the dedicated contributors in community football.

“The SFNL is very excited to be celebrating and recognising these four extremely worthy inductees at the fourth annual Hall of Fame function,” Mr Palmer said.

“Each of these individuals has devoted the greater part of their lives to football and have contributed an enormous amount to the SFNL and indeed the entire Southern community over a long period of time.

“We know that they are thrilled to be nominated for induction, but more importantly the Hall of Fame sub-committee, the SFNL Board and the entire SFNL community are honoured to be able to recognise them for their superb achievements.”

The quartet will be inducted during a special Hall of Fame function to be held on Wednesday 18 July at the Woodlands Golf Club.

This prestigious function will not only honour these four inductees and subsidiary award winners for their remarkable contributions to local football, but also acknowledge and celebrate the rich history of the SFNL and its forerunners, and in particular the Eastern Suburbs Churches Football League.

Tickets for the 2018 Hall of Fame event are now available for $55pp and can be purchased via bit.ly/sfnlHOF18.
