SFNL MRP and Tribunal Statement - 07/08/2019

The SFNL advises that the Match Review Panel (MRP) and Independent Tribunal have completed their review of the weekend’s football:

Set Penalties
Fintan Brazil (#5 Murrumbeena) was reported by the officiating field umpire for striking Adam Read (#36 Doveton Eagles) during the 4th quarter of the Round 16 Division 2 Senior Match between Doveton Eagles and Murrumbeena at Power Reserve on Saturday 03 August 2019. Fintan was offered a two (2) match set penalty which was accepted.

Cameron McPhan (#11 St Pauls) was cited by the MRP for striking Josh Ellis (#19 Dingley) during the 3rd quarter of the Round 15 Division 1 Senior Match between Dingley and St Pauls at Souter Oval on Saturday 03 August 2019. Cameron was offered a two (2) match set penalty which was accepted.

Rory Goldsmith (#40 Dingley) was cited by the MRP for striking Aaron Hay (#23 St Pauls) during the 3rd quarter of the Round 15 Division 1 Senior Match between Dingley and St Pauls at Souter Oval on Saturday 03 August 2019. Rory was offered a two (2) match set penalty which was accepted.

Stele Slaughter (#56 Moorabbin) was cited by the MRP for using an obscene gesture during the 3rd quarter of the Round 16 Division 4 Senior Match between Lyndhurst and Moorabbin at Marriott Waters Reserve on Saturday 03 August 2019. Stele was offered a reprimand which was accepted.

Tribunal Hearing 201952
Josh Bennett (#30 Heatherton) was referred to the Independent Tribunal via investigation for head-butting Patrick Soan (#25 Caulfield) during the 2nd quarter of the Round 14 Division 2 Senior Match between Heatherton and Caulfield at Ross Street Reserve on Saturday 20 July 2019. The charge was heard at the Independent Tribunal on the evening of Tuesday 06 August 2019. Josh pleaded not-guilty and was found guilty and received a six (6) match suspension.

Tribunal Hearing 201953
Phillip Caliguiri (#51 Oakleigh District) was reported by the officiating field umpire for intentionally making contact with an umpire during the 4th quarter of the Round 15 Division 1 Reserve Match between Oakleigh District and East Malvern at Princes Highway Reserve on Saturday 03 August 2019. The charge was heard at the Independent Tribunal on the evening of Tuesday 06 August 2019. Phillip pleaded not-guilty and was found not-guilty.

Tribunal Hearing 201954
Christopher Horton-Milne (#6 Dingley) was reported by the officiating field umpire for striking Liam Herbstreit (#3 St Pauls) during the 3rd quarter of the 15 Division 1 Senior Match between Dingley and St Pauls at Souter Oval on Saturday 03 August 2019. Christopher was offered a two (2) match set penalty. Christopher contested the charge at the Independent Tribunal on the evening of Tuesday 06 August 2019. Christopher pleaded not-guilty and was found not-guilty.

Owen Lewis (#32 Murrumbeena) was referred to the Independent Tribunal via the MRP for engaging in rough conduct with Nicholas Beer (#6 Doveton Eagles) during the 3rd quarter of the Round 16 Division 2 Senior Match between Doveton Eagles and Murrumbeena at Power Reserve on Saturday 03 August 2019. The charge was heard at the Independent Tribunal on the evening of Wednesday 07 August 2019. Owen pleaded not-guilty and was found guilty and received a three (3) match suspension.

George Angelopoulos (#10 Springvale Districts) was referred to the Independent Tribunal via the MRP for engaging in rough conduct with Barry Hope (#21 East Brighton) during the 2nd quarter of the Round 16 Division 2 Senior Match between East Brighton and Springvale Districts at Hurlingham Reserve on Saturday 03 August 2019. The charge was heard at the Independent Tribunal on the evening of Wednesday 07 August 2019. George pleaded not-guilty and was found not-guilty.
