The Southern Football Netball League community is deeply saddened by the passing of Jane Barnes, who tragically lost her brave battle with leukaemia on Sunday night.
The Barnes name is an exalted one in community football and indeed the SFNL. Jane's uncle Stephen is a legend of the Southern and Federal leagues, and an inaugural inductee into the SFNL Hall of Fame, while her cousin Heath Barnes was a champion player with the St Pauls in the late 2000s.
A keen netballer and recreational runner, Jane's strength and determination was an inspiration to many and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The SFNL extends its sincerest condolences to the Barnes family during this difficult time.
