SFNL Women's Round Robin

The SFNL will be running a Women's Football Round Robin tournament for the second consecutive year this coming weekend at JL Murphy Reserve.

Following the success of last year's inaugural preseason round robin competition, this year's edition will feature six competing teams from Murrumbeena (two teams), Oakleigh District, Port Colts, Frankston Dolphins and Lyndhurst.

The preseason round robin is a great opportunity for clubs to further build their playing list by giving prospective players a chance to come and try Aussie Rules football. In addition, it also provide players with another competitive hit out and valuable match practice ahead of the opening round of the season proper on April 28.

The competition also gives the SFNL the opportunity to officially welcome several of the new teams in to the competition, such as Frankston Dolphins, Port Melbourne Colts, who are looking to field a development side in the SFNL in 2018 for the first time, and Murrumbeena, who will also introduce a second women's side this year.

It promises to be a bumper afternoon with each side playing three matches of 15-minute halves throughout the day, so come along and cheer on your girls, or pull on the boots and get involved!

The SFNL thanks the Port Melbourne Colts Football Club for hosting the tournament.
