SFNL Tops 2017 AFL Victoria Media Award Shortlist

The SFNL Media Team has received the most shortlisted AFL Victoria Community Media Award nominations of any football league in the state for the second consecutive year.

Announced by AFL Victoria last night, the SFNL has seven shortlisted candidates in five separate award categories across all forms of media, including print, radio and online/social media.

The League’s outstanding work on social media has delivered the most nominations, with brand-new Facebook video segment Never Have I Ever and the League's Pride Round video series both shortlisted for the Best Use of Online Media – Technology award. SFNL TV has also scooped a second consecutive nomination in the online award’s TV Show subcategory.

SFNL Media journalists Britt Goldsmith (Under 19: In the Spotlight) and Jason Barbin (Division 2: Inner Sanctum) have also received nominations for their informative weekly football record columns, while Will Hunter has been shortlisted in the Best Print/Online Feature Story category for his Multicultural Round yarn on Murrumbeena footballer, Poorni Ghanta.

Popular Sunday radio program, The 5th Quarter, is in the running to make it a hat-trick of awards for Best Radio Football Show, after taking home the accolade in 2015 and 2016.

The winners of the 2017 AFL Victoria Community Media Awards will be announced at a luncheon on Friday 8th December and we wish all of our shortlisted nominees the very best of luck!
