SFNL Stars Picked in VFL Women's Squads

Four of the SFNL's brightest stars have earned selection on VFL club lists ahead of the 2018 Swisse VFL Women's season.

Murrumbeena premiership captain Grace Bibby, a star midfielder that was best afield in the 2017 Grand Final, has secured a spot on Richmond's list after trialling with the club over the summer. Oakleigh District's Emily Gilder and East Brighton jet Jade Barnden emerged as one of the competition's most damaging onballers last season and has been rewarded for stellar 2017 form with selection in Hawthorn's squad.

Barnden will be joined at the Hawks by Oakleigh District's Emily Gilder, while Barnden's Vampires' teammate, ruck Alanna Dalley, has joined Melbourne Uni.

SFNL General Manager - Operations David Jennings "This is great reward for the efforts of these players, and it provides an opportunity for them to compete at a higher level," Mr Jennings said.

"It is also great recognition for the Member Clubs that have supported the inaugural women's competition last year and the development of these players."

The Swisse VFL Women's season kicks off this weekend.

Congratulations to all four girls and we look forward to seeing their careers progress at the higher level.
