COMPETITION INFO

  • The Seymour Law Cup will consist of 8 football teams (open age) playing over 4 weeks in a round robin competition at Springvale Reserve.
  • Each competing team will play four matches throughout the competition – one per team, per night.
  • Matches will be played on Monday and Wednesday nights at 6:40pm and 8:10pm timeslots.
  • Quarters lengths will be reduced to 15 minutes (limited time-on), with 5-minute breaks for quarter time and
  • As a trial for the first two weeks of the competition, on-field playing numbers will be capped at 16 players with unlimited bench players. On-field playing numbers will revert back to 18 per team for the final two weeks.
  • SFNL will supply a full complement of umpires for each match.
  • There will be a set gate entrance fee of $5. Everybody entering the venue will be charged this amount (including players).
  • Prize money of $100 will be awarded to the winning team of each match in the first three weeks.
  • All competing teams will receive a guaranteed prize money return based off final standings after the fourth week of games. Prize money will be awarded as follows:

TEAMS CONFIRMED FOR INAUGURAL SEYMOUR LAW CUP

Division 1 grand finalist Bentleigh and reigning Division 3 premiers Mount Waverley are among the eight teams that will compete in the inaugural Seymour Law Cup next month.

The League’s new preseason competition will see teams from clubs across the three senior divisions split into two pools of four teams, with the Demons and the Mountain Lions grouped into Pool A.

Division 3 Preliminary Finalist Doveton Eagles and Hampton (Division 2) have also been drawn into Pool A, which will play its matches on Monday nights at Springvale Reserve.

Pool B will be an all Division 3 affair, with Hallam, Lyndhurst, Dandenong and Carrum Patterson Lakes set to do battle on Wednesday nights.

The clubs have been pooled based on relative strength, which is hoped will create competitive matches between the sides.

SFNL ANNOUNCES NEW PRESEASON COMPETITION

In an exciting new initiative, the SFNL will run a round-robin preseason football competition throughout the month of March.

Eight SFNL clubs will compete for cash prizes in the inaugural Seymour Law Cup, with mid-week matches scheduled on Monday and Wednesday nights at Springvale Reserve, beginning Monday 6 March.

These preseason matches will feature reduced quarter lengths of 15 minutes, as well as shorter breaks to accommodate two matches per night at 6:40pm and 8:10pm timeslots.

Additionally, the SFNL will cap on-field playing numbers at 16 per team in a trial for the first half of competition, before reverting to the traditional 18-a-side in the final two weeks. Bench numbers will be unlimited for the entire duration of the Seymour Law Cup.
