STATEMENT FROM COBRAS GENERAL MANAGER BRETT PHILLIPS
'We had been talking abut the concept of bringing in an ex-AFL footballer for a one-off game for a period of time, which has been successfully done at other clubs from a financial point of view.

The opportunity presented itself with our coach Rick having a connection with Yarrawonga, who happen to have a bye on the 2nd of May, so it has fitted in with our first home game of the season, where we will launch our new facilities. Brendan is still a big drawcard in footy circles and we look forward to seeing a big crowd get down to Edinburgh Reserve on May 2.

Brendan has a strong affinity with the South East of Melbourne having grown up in Narre Waren, played with Narre Warren and Beaconsfield Junior Football Clubs in the Dandenong & District Junior Football League and progressed through to the Dandenong Stingrays in the Under 18 TAC Cup where he was drafted to Carlton.

Our opponent for the day will be our closest neighbour Lyndale and we look forward to a great contest.'
