KEYSBOROUGH embarks on a new chapter in its history when it plays its first game in the SFL’s Division 2 on Saturday at Doveton.
The Kookaburras have crossed from the old Casey Cardinia league (now known as South East) and under new coach Ryan “Bomber’’ Goodes are looking forward to a competitive season. Goodes is no stranger to the SFL, having been at Clayton for many years, and he is upbeat about the fresh and vibrant feeling around the club.
“We’ve got a lot of young guys coming through and have had 40 or 50 on the track pre-season. This time last year we were lucky to have 20,” he said.
Among the new faces are former Noble Park defenders Tom Anderton and Dylan Wheeler, and promising forward Matthew Burnett from Karingal. The Dunn brothers from Skye, Jake and Shane, are also expected to make their mark, while star backman William Gayfer has returned to the club from The Basin.
