Allan Appointed Vic Metro Vice Captain

St Pauls star Jarryd Allan was honoured with vice captaincy of the Vic Metro representative side that took on Vic Country in the AFL Victoria Community Cup at the weekend.

Dingley speedster Chris Horton-Milne and Bentleigh forward Matt Troutbeck also donned the 'big V' jumper alongside Allan.

But despite the trio's best efforts, Sunday's result didn’t go Vic Metro’s way, with Vic Country running out winners by 39 points out at Mernda.

Their selection in the final Vic Metro team were just rewards for their standout performances in the SFNL's interleague clash against Ellinbank & District FL back in May, and is a further shot in the arm for the SFNL interleague program headed by coach Ben Lockwood.

Not only did Southern record a resounding victory over the EDFL, but the three SFNL representatives in the Vic Metro team are the most the League has ever had.

The SFNL had two players picked for Vic Metro's clash with Queensland in Burpengary last year, one of which was Allan.

In addition, a total of eight Southern league players named in the initial 47-man Vic Metro training squad released last month, including Nathan Robinson (East Malvern), Andrew Frost (Dingley), Geoff Humphreys (Keysborough), Pat Carroll and Brody Hodic (both Oakleigh District).

The SFNL congratulates Jarryd, Chris and Matt on their selection in the Vic Metro team, and looks forward to an even more successful interleague campaign in 2017.
