2017 SFNL Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Southern Football Netball League is delighted to announce that three of the League’s longest serving contributors will be inducted into the SFNL Hall of Fame in 2017.

Long-time Burwood and Ashwood committeeman Neil Kellett, Murrumbeena luminary Emrys Lloyd-Griffiths and local media living legend Daryl Pitman will join the illustrious list of 28 current inductees into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their decades of tireless service to the SFNL and its clubs.

The Hall of Fame exists to recognise and celebrate people who have made significant contributions to the SFNL or its precursor competitions, the Federal Football League, Eastern Suburbs Churches Football Association and South East Suburban Football League.

The SFNL Hall of Fame sub-committee again received many terrific nominations that were carefully considered and attributed to different categories, being a player, administrator, official, coach, umpire, media person or life time achiever.

The quality of the nominations was outstanding, which again made for an extremely difficult task for the SFNL. The sub-committee assessed the nominees over many areas including longevity, quality of performance, integrity, sportsmanship, good character and promoting the values of the SFNL or its forerunners.

The SFNL Board reviewed a recommendation from the sub-committee and approved all three inductees into the Hall of Fame in 2017.

The trio will be inducted during a special Hall of Fame function to be held in June.

This prestigious function will not only honour these three inductees for their remarkable contributions to local football, but also to acknowledge and celebrate the rich history of the SFNL and its forerunners.

SFNL CEO David Cannizzo said that the three inductees are a wonderful representation of all the dedicated contributors in community football.

“The SFNL are very excited to be celebrating and recognising these three inductees at the third annual Hall of Fame function,” Mr Cannizzo said.

“Each of these individuals to be inducted have contributed so much to the SFNL and indeed the entire Southern community over a long period of time.

“I have been fortunate enough to be associated and work with these individuals in recent times and I am absolutely thrilled that they will be afforded this honour in recognition of their tremendous service.”

The SFNL Hall of Fame function will be on Wednesday 28 June at Woodlands Golf Club, White Street, Mordialloc. Tickets for the prestigious event will be available shortly.
